Marine Emergency Response Group (MERG) provides professional maritime training tailored to suite your organization's needs. All of our instructors are licensed USCG Captains with decades of combined maritime service in various tasks, from operating fireboats to towboats, from marine salvage to new equipment installations, and from marina operations to fire ground operations.

Mission Statement
Marine Emergency Response Group, LLC (MERG), is owned and operated by U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Licensed Captains, each providing years of diversified experience in maritime and fire and rescue operations. MERG has the vision to provide organizations, new and old, with consulting, training, and team building to focus on preparing emergency responders with the skills to handle situations presented during crises and normal daily vessel operations. It is our desire to broaden the horizons of existing marine units, educate new marine organizations/units, and elevate service levels for equipment and standards practiced by maritime organizations by networking existing techniques, experience, and knowledge with today's technology to create a safer maritime environment.

About us
MERG was founded by three U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captains, each providing years of diversified experience in maritime and fire and rescue operations. A fourth partner, having the same credentials as the first three, was brought in during our second year of operations.
Our owners have completed many of the standard courses set forth by NFPA, the USCG, and others over many years. These include shipboard firefighting, swift-water rescue and boat operator, lifeguard, and several other technical rescue courses. These courses did not cover the basics of small vessel fires, de-watering operations, river rescue and back-boarding, SAR operations, fireboat operator, and many other aspects necessary to safely protect our citizens operating pleasure crafts on our lakes and rivers. MERG has taken this as a challenge.
We work closely with the USCG, DHS, NASBLA, and other agencies to develop training courses to broaden the horizons of our firefighters, police officers, and marine patrols. These courses will create a safer environment when emergencies necessitate the actions of these agencies.
